MILLIONS RALLY FOR “MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY” ON OCTOBER 24

Residents of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County will join millions of Americans to volunteer on Make A Difference Day, Saturday, October 24, 2015. Sponsored by USA WEEKEND Magazine in collaboration with the HandsOn Network, Newman’s Own, and many more, the annual Make a Difference Day is the nation’s largest day of community service.

The Anne Arundel County Volunteer Center is recruiting and referring volunteers for many volunteer activities taking place throughout October this year. City of Annapolis, Department of Recreation and Parks

Saturday, October 24, 2015    – FALL GREENSCAPE The Annapolis Recreation and Parks Department invites community members to participate by volunteering for the City’s fall GreenScape project.  Make a Difference Day” is a national effort encouraging groups.  For more information, please e-mail Marisa at: mdwittlinger@annapolis.gov or phone 410-263-7958.

 

Assistance League of the Chesapeake

Assistance League of the Chesapeake is conducting a Children’s Book Drive on Saturday, October 24th. The goal of Assistance League is to spread the love of reading to children throughout Anne Arundel County.  Last year, over 1500 books were collected and distributed to schools.  Book drop locations include Mercedes Benz of Annapolis, Adams Jeep of Annapolis, The Annapolis Book Store on Maryland Avenue and other locations throughout the county. Happy Helpers for the Homeless

  • Happy Helpers will have their 22nd Annual Make a Difference Day event on Saturday, October 24th, 2014, 7:30am – 10:30am.  We will take a group of those whom we serve out for a day of rarely-offered services. The day will get started with a leisurely breakfast at the Golden Corral Restaurant in Glen Burnie. Afterwards: haircuts, job search assistance, toiletry gift bags, and clothing distribution.
  • Happy Helpers is sponsoring the “Light the Night” Walk for Leukemia & Lymphoma on Saturday, October 24th, 2015, 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm as a second event for Make a Difference Day.  Happy Helpers will raise pledges and walk in honor of Thomas Cleaver, III, Cindy Cox, and Mr. Joseph Nowalski. Participants will meet at Cromwell Light Rail Station in Glen Burnie at 5:00 pm sharp. Hope for All

On Make A Difference Day, October 24th, 2015, Hope for All will deliver furniture to families in need of assistance.   We currently have 40 families seeking assistance.
