The Seventh Annual Mentoring Awards, sponsored by the Volunteer Center For Anne Arundel County will be presented on Thursday, March 15, 2012, 6 – 8 pm at the Roger “Pip” Moyer Recreation Center at Truxton Park, 273 Hilltop Lane, Annapolis, MD 21401
Keynote Speaker, DeDe Duncan-White is in her fourth year at the U.S. Naval Academy, where she serves as Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Support Services. Prior to her current position, Duncan-White served in the U.S. Navy for 23 years and achieved the rank of Commander (O-5) prior to her retirement in 2007. Duncan-White earned her master’s degree in Military Arts & Science from Command & General Staff College in 1997 and her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Southern University A&M in 1984. She resides in Annapolis with her husband, Shelley C. White Jr., and their son, Shelley C. White, III.
Duncan-White will help us honor those who nurture the talent of our young people. She will share how you can reach out and help build their character and confidence, expand their universe and navigate a path to success.
Join the Volunteer Center on March 15th at this free celebration of the outstanding work done by mentors for young people in our community.
The evening will culminate with awards honoring mentoring programs, outstanding mentors and special recognition for “Lifetime Mentor,” Bishop Larry Lee Thomas.
