AMVETS

AMVETS is one of the nation’s leading veteran’s service organizations by providing legislative initiatives that give individual assistance in attaining earned benefits from VA and protecting veterans’ benefits on the national scale. AMVETS also has programs to assist a array of veterans’ issues including AMVETS Career Centers to veterans seeking employment after the military. Intern will take in a non-profit atmosphere, specifically a 501(c)3 and 501( c)19. Intern will gain knowledge and skills in Sequel database building, and would be primarily responsible to Membership Director for variety of data entry requirements primarily in support of AMVETS’ membership database. Annapolis Police Department Law Enforcement Exploring Program

Law Enforcement Exploring is a worksite-based program for young men and women who have completed the eighth grade and are 14 years of age, or are 15 years of age but have not yet reached their 21st birthday.

The program helps youth to gain insight into a variety of police activities. Participants learn what police officers do, and receive hands-on training in a variety of police activities; in addition, they learn leadership skills, and can earn community service hours and have opportunities for college scholarships. Annapolis Police Department Auxiliary Officer Program

The Annapolis Police Department is looking for volunteer, uniformed Auxiliary Officers to render assistance to the police department in various capacities.  The Auxiliary Officer shall render volunteer police services such as Traffic Control, Fingerprinting, Administrative Duties, Dignitary Details and Community Relations Functions. The Auxiliary Officer is not compensated monetarily, is not authorized to carry weapons, and is not vested with arrest authority. Uniforms and transportation will be furnished for official duties, and police procedure training will be provided in both formal classroom and on-the-job training sessions. Applicants must be at least 21 years old, be a United States Citizen, have no felony convictions or serious misdemeanor convictions, possess a valid Maryland driver’s license and have a good driving record. He or she must be capable of providing a minimum of 10 hours of service each month, have a telephone, be in good physical condition and must agree to a background investigation, a fingerprint check, a drug screening test, and an oral interview. Maryland Emergency Medical Services, Inc. (MDEEMSP)

MDEMSP, Inc. provides EMS workers for Special events and volunteers for staff support for other non-profits within Maryland. Volunteers are needed for administrative tasks, and Emergency Services Workers are needed to attend special events. The Color Run, 5K, Sun. November 17, 2013, Cool Kids Campaign

The Color Run™ 5k is a unique experience focused less on speed and more on crazy color fun with friends and family. Color runners come from all different ages, shapes, sizes, and speeds; but everyone toeing the start line has a blast. The Cool Kids Campaign is the charity recipient for both Baltimore Color Run races at Camden Yards on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2017. A donation is made for every volunteer recruited. A large number of volunteers are needed the day of the races starting at 7 am or at 12 Noon to help with color zones/color cleanup, course direction, en-route aid/water station, festival help, at the start & finish line, check-in, and parking. In addition, volunteers are needed the Fri. and Sat. preceding the race to help with packet pickup. National Family Volunteer Day, November 23, 2013

Volunteers are needed from 1-5 pm, Sat., Nov. 23, 2013 at Sarah’s House in Fort Meade, MD. Volunteers will be assisting with arts and craft activities, making snacks to be shared during a family friendly movie, assembling and handing out goody bags for the residents of Sarah’s House, card making for the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday, and other family friendly activities.  If under the age of 18, please contact us with more specific requirements for this opportunity. First Book-Anne Arundel County

First Book Anne Arundel is a nonprofit whose mission is to provide children from low-income families with their first new books free. Life Renewed Corporation

Life Renewed Corp. supports foster parents in Maryland by providing free emergency clothing and furniture for their new foster children when they first come into their homes. Volunteers are needed to help in the Thrift Store located at 179 Mitchells Chance Rd., in Edgewater. Volunteers would help organize, label, and price clothes. Pet Rescue of Maryland

This non-profit, all volunteer organization serving the greater Baltimore area is dedicated to saving the lives of dogs, cats, kittens, and puppies and finding permanent homes for the animals. Volunteers, age 18 and up, are needed to care for animals at the Timonium Petco Adoption Center, for outreach in the community, fundraising, for emergency services such as animal transport and animal care. Reading Partners

Reading Partners opened its first Center in Baltimore in spring 2012. Each on-campus reading Center operates in a converted classroom or a library which is staffed by a Reading Partners Site Coordinator to work with the school staff, understand student needs, and guide volunteer tutors. Reading Partners is seeking community members to help empower struggling readers in the Baltimore community. As a tutor you will be matched with an elementary school student who is 6 months to 2.5 years behind their reading grade level. For a minimum of 1 hour a week, volunteers can make an impact on a student’s life as a tutor and mentor.
