Volunteering is Fun!

Hello Volunteers,

Did you know? During May and June, there are not as many volunteers signing up for projects as there are throughout the rest of the year. This impacts the amount of work we’re able to accomplish with our nonprofit and community partners.  You are needed!  See below for some ways you can give back or search our website for more.

Superhero Camp

Volunteer support is needed to help our local Annapolis community children build a strong, healthy, self-esteem, while discovering their inner-awesome superpowers. Our own Annapolis Police Department is partnering with the professional leaders of the LAA Flagship Class of 2017 to create this sustainable, annual, summer Superhero Camp, with the goal of nurturing character, courage, and confidence in children. Volunteers are needed August 14, 15, 16 (9:00am-3:00pm) either for an hour, half-day, full-day, or all three days. There are 25 children that could use your mentoring to assist in reading, doing activities related to supporting a healthy self-esteem, and being there for them as a caring adult. Please call Dona for details and to schedule your volunteer time: 410-224-3878.

Be at the Finish Line

June 22-26, Volunteers are needed for the Race Across America Finish. Race Across America (RAAM) is the storied endurance bicycle race starting in Oceanside, CA and ending in Annapolis, MD (3000 miles); it is known as the toughest on the planet and is something not to be missed. BikeAAA is working with RAAM to be sure that volunteers are always at the finish line to help teams come in. Volunteers are needed to take a 6-hour shift during the time of the race finish from June 22-26, 2017. Share in the accomplishment and excitement! Volunteers who take a shift will receive a free t-shirt. Volunteers dedicating 12 hours or more of their time will receive a complimentary ticket to the finishing banquet on Mon. evening. To volunteer, or for more information, contact Jeff Magnuson at jeff@raceacrossamerica.org.

Harmony House

Boys & Girls Club Needs You

There are many different types of volunteers needed at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County. Your skill set, interest and enthusiasm can easily be matched for a short or long term volunteer position. Whether you have specialized skills, love to be around kids, or want to help in the office, there are many ways to help.  You could also join BGCAA’s Mentoring Community and help change, or even save, the life of a child. The commitment is one hour a week during Club Hours (after school during the academic year or during the day in the summer). We ask that Mentors commit to the program for a minimum of three months. All volunteers and mentors are required to fill out a Volunteer Application. For more information about Volunteer or Mentoring opportunities please email Volunteer@bgcaa.com or call 410-263-2542.
